Gin, in its most basic terms, is a spirit of approximately 37.5% alcohol by volume (ABV) or greater, that is derived from grain distillation and primarily flavoured with juniper berries or juniper extract. For gin to be classified and to set it apart from any other liquor, juniper must be the prevailing ingredient.
